Description

Oil-bonded molding sand.

The sand is suitable for making molds for metals and alloys with melting points up to 1200°C. Its fine grain allows for molding sharp-contoured and smooth surfaces with very high quality.

Technical data for our oil-bonded molding sand:

Transverse strength: 2.2 N/cm²

For use:

When making molds, the sand should be well compacted.

To prevent the sand from sticking to the object being molded and between the mold parts, use talc, or mold release spray and talc, as a release agent.

To ensure that all details of the object to be molded are optimally reproduced, we recommend sifting new oil sand finely over the object before filling the mold. This ensures that when compacting, the entire surface of the mold is pressed evenly into the sand.

If you cast metals and alloys with a pouring temperature above 400°C into the sand, it will burn where it comes into contact with the melt.

To reprocess the burnt sand, use special reprocessing oil and paste. The black oil sand resulting from mixing these can be used as a filler. However, only new, orange oil sand should be used on the object to be molded.
