CuSn12 is a common bronze casting alloy. It is characterized by its good corrosion resistance and wear resistance. It essentially has the same properties as the material CuSn12-C (CC483K), but this alloy is lead-free. Lead improves machinability in copper alloys. If excellent machinability is important to you, we recommend opting for our CuSn12-C in 250 g bars instead.
The bars are very easy to melt and cast. For ideal casting behavior, we recommend pouring the alloy at 1050–1100°C and adding slag binder for copper-based alloys to the melt beforehand.
As an alternative to the 1 kg CuSn12 bars, we also offer CuSn8 as lead-free bronze in smaller, 250 g bars. If you add an additional 4–7% tin to this, you will obtain a similar, also lead-free alloy with very good casting properties.
The surface of the bars is not polished and therefore appears somewhat duller. Nevertheless, the material is clean and free from impurities.

The molding sand available in our shops is very well suited as a molding material for bronze castings.
