Good mechanical properties
Good Castability
Limited Corrosion Resistance
Heat-Resistant Alloy
AlSi9Cu3 is a heat-resistant, universally applicable aluminum casting material. It possesses good mechanical properties for aluminum, is very easy to cast, and exhibits a low tendency for shrinkage cavities. Compared to AlSi10Mg or AlSi7Mg, the toughness is similar or lower, with also slightly lower strength. Despite forming a melting range, the alloy is very easy to cast. AlSi9Cu can be easily welded and machined. AlSi9Cu3 can also be precipitation hardened. The corrosion resistance is lower than that of AlSi10Mg or AlSi7Mg.
It is preferably used for parts that must withstand temperature peaks up to approx. 150 °C during use.
The convenient portioning into ingots of approx. 100g each ensures that even small quantities can be easily melted down and cast. The ingots fit into any crucible we know.
