Eutectic Tin-Lead Alloy SnPb37
Composition: 63% Tin, 37% Lead
Weight: approx. 25g/pellet
Melting point: 183°C
Density: 8.41 g/cm³
This alloy is particularly suitable for casting figures or other tin objects for which food-grade tin does not need to be used. Due to the 37% lead content, the melting point of the alloy is lowered to 183°C.
(Pure Tin: 232°C, Pure Lead: 327°C)
This results in lower energy consumption. Furthermore, it offers better castability compared to pure tin or lead.
The alloy also exhibits greater hardness than tin and lead.
If required, the alloy can be further refined with small amounts of bismuth, antimony, or copper.
For example, if you want to cast figures that are to be treated with clear lacquer or painted, this alloy is perfect.
