CuSn12-C is a common bronze casting alloy. It is characterized by its good corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
The pieces are very easy to melt and cast. For ideal casting behavior, we recommend pouring the alloy at 1050-1100°C and adding slag binder for copper-based alloys to the melt beforehand.
For technical reasons, the alloy contains up to 3% lead. This does not hinder the casting process and ensures better machinability. If you prefer a lead-free casting bronze, you can also purchase CuSn8 ingots in our shops. If you add another 4-7% tin to this, you will get a similar, but lead-free alloy with very good casting properties.
The surface of the ingots is not polished and therefore a bit duller. Nevertheless, the material is clean and free of impurities.
The molding sand available in our shops is very well suited as a molding material for bronze castings.
