Graphite is highly heat-resistant. You can easily pour low-melting (e.g. tin, lead, aluminum, etc.) as well as higher-melting metals and alloys (e.g. copper/bronze/brass, gold/silver, cast iron, etc.) into the molds.
The small grooves between the cavities and the edge are due to the manufacturing process. However, they do not pose an obstacle during casting, as the surface tension of the metals and alloys is too high for them to flow through.
When casting with higher- or even high-melting metals and alloys, ensure that the mold is preheated accordingly to avoid any water residue and to extend the life of the mold.
