The 6N silicon fragments are obtained from cut-offs of corresponding 6N silicon crystals. They are completely free of impurities, such as SiO2 (quartz glass), which sometimes occurs in 3N silicon. The pieces are somewhat darker and sharper-edged than 3N silicon fragments. This makes them well-suited for decorative purposes. Furthermore, for further processing applications, 6N is better suited than 3N silicon.

Silicon with 3N purity is very well suited for alloying with aluminum. Together with our ingots and granules of pure aluminum, you can, for example, produce the common aluminum casting alloy AlSi12. This alloy contains 88% aluminum and 12% silicon and is characterized by very good castability. We also offer a similar aluminum casting alloy in a convenient form in our product range.
