As a standard option, we recommend our pure tin ingots if you want to melt down, alloy, or stock the metal in solid form.

Choose the remaining forms based on what you plan to do. If you want to weigh out small amounts precisely, choose pure tin granules; if you melt in even portions, choose the pellets. For soldering and tinning, use the triangular solder rod, available as a set with soldering fluid or soldering paste flux on request. If you need a piece of tin with a fixed diameter in a specific length, choose the round rod. The soldering fluid and soldering paste flux in this category are tin-free fluxes. The tinning paste, on the other hand, contains pure tin in powder form.

Delivery form

Piece size and quantities

Suitable for

Pure tin ingots Sn99.9

1 kg in ingots of about 200 g

Melting down, alloying, stocking in solid form

Pure tin pellets Sn99.9

About 20 g per pellet, 100 g to 1 kg

Melting in portions, easy to dose

Pure tin Sn99.9 granules

2 to 4 mm, 100 g to 1 kg

Precise dosing of small quantities

Sn99.9 triangular solder rod

400 mm long rods, about 250 g

Soldering and tinning, also available as a set with flux

Pure tin round rods

8 mm diameter, 50 to 2,000 mm long, about 18 to 736 g

Cut to your desired length, e.g. for tinning surfaces

We charge for the solder rod by weight; from 250 grams we supply whole rods, below that, partial rod sections. For the round rods, we state all lengths in millimeters.

Price per quantity and proof of purity

If you want to buy tin and compare the price per kilogram, you'll find it directly with our tin ingots. Pellets and granules are also available in kilogram packs, where the price per gram is significantly lower than for 100-gram packs. Since metal prices change constantly, the current price is always shown on the product.

All items are at least 5 percent cheaper with us than in our shops on eBay and Amazon, plus there are tiered quantity discounts that you can redeem with a voucher code in your shopping cart. For orders up to €6,000 gross value, you can order directly in the shop; for larger quantities and special forms, we will calculate a quote for you on request by email or phone.

We source our tin from European suppliers, with the ore mostly originating from Indonesia or Bolivia. A 3.1 mill certificate with analysis is available on request for most of our metals. Please ask us before ordering whether one is available for the delivery form you want.

Tin for soldering and tinning

In addition to the metal, you need a flux that dissolves oxide layers to create a solid solder joint or a tinned copper surface. Soldering fluid Z-02 and soldering paste flux 621 are such fluxes. They only prepare the surface. The soldering fluid is designed for copper, copper alloys, and leaded glass, while the soldering paste flux is designed for copper, copper alloys, and zinc. The soldering paste flux doesn't run and can therefore be applied more precisely than the soldering fluid. Both are also available as a set with the solder rod.

With the tinning paste, you can apply a thin layer of tin to copper, copper alloys, or steel without any additional tin. For a thicker layer, re-tin with pure tin, for example using the solder rod. We supply the soldering fluid, soldering paste flux, and paste each with a brush for application.

Ensure good ventilation while soldering, or extract the soldering fumes. Afterwards, rinse off the residues of all three products with water promptly, as they are corrosive.

If you're not looking for pure tin but a ready-made solder, such as SnCu0.7 as an electrical solder, you'll find it among our tin solders for soft soldering.

For casting and alloying

Pure tin serves as the base metal when you mix your own tin alloys. For figure casting, choose pure tin if you want the surface to look more refined and strength isn't a concern. For tin figures that need to hold up to some wear, we recommend Sn98Sb2 (listed in the shop as SnSb2) or Sn95Sb3Cu2 (listed in the shop as SnSb3Cu2). Due to its higher antimony content and the additional copper content, Sn95Sb3Cu2 is the stronger of the two. Sn98Sb2 has a smaller melting range and is less prone to segregation, meaning the separation of the alloy components during solidification.

As a pure metal, tin melts at a fixed point, at 231.93 °C. To find out why most alloys instead melt over a melting range, read our guide on the melting point of tin.

For occasional castings, an inexpensive graphite crucible without a pouring spout is sufficient. If you melt frequently, it's better to choose the MIG graphite crucible (Made in Germany) with a pouring spout; it lasts the longest of all our graphite crucibles. You'll find both among our crucibles.

Order tin in our online shop

We ship free of charge within Germany, usually within 3 to 5 business days.
