Similar to Field&#8217;s or Wood&#8217;s Metal, it can be effectively used where a very low melting point is required, e.g., as a special solder.</p>

Like the latter, it is also very well suited for manufacturing tinware and similar items, as well as for figures. It has the advantage over Sn95Sb3Cu2 that its melting range is lower and less segregation occurs. Nevertheless, its strength is lower and lies approximately between that of pure tin and Sn95Sb3Cu2.    </p>

They are frequently used as a replacement for lead-containing Rose&#8217;s metal. It is an ideal lead-free alternative, as it has nearly identical properties to <a href="https://zinn-giesserei-goehler.com/en/produkt/roses-metal-granules-bipbsn25/">Rose&#8217;s metal</a> (25% lead content). The silver content in the alloy increases strength compared to <a href="https://zinn-giesserei-goehler.com/en/produkt/bismuth-tin-alloy-pellets-bisn42/">BiSn42</a> or <a href="https://zinn-giesserei-goehler.com/en/produkt/roses-metal-granules-bipbsn25/">Rose&#8217;s metal</a>. The melting point is not significantly altered by the silver content and remains at approx. 138 °C.<br />
The alloy can be used for reliable casting of small parts. The low melting point of 138 °C prevents the alloy from solidifying too quickly and allows molds to be filled more effectively. The casting properties are therefore very good. Note the limited cold workability of the alloy, which is due to high brittleness (despite the silver content).      </p>

<p>The antioxidation pellets consist of pure tin with a 0.5% phosphorus content. The phosphorus content ensures a reduction of metal oxides in the melt bath and significantly reduces dross formation and suspended particles. This significantly increases metal yield and heat transfer. The phosphorus is consumed bit by bit.   </p>
<p>Approximately 1 pellet per kg of solder should be used. For bath temperatures up to approx. 500 °C, two pellets per kg should be used. </p>

<p>WM80 is a bearing metal/white metal. It has more optimal mechanical properties than lead-based bearing metals and the lead-free <a href="https://zinn-giesserei-goehler.com/en/produkt/bearing-metal-white-metal-wm89-sn89sb7-5cu3-5/">WM89</a>. </p>
<p>The alloy is characterized by good static compressive strength, high corrosion resistance, excellent plain bearing and emergency running properties, as well as good solderability on Cu-Zn-Sn alloys, cast steel, and cast iron.</p>
<p>Emergency running properties mean that a material can withstand mechanical loads in a plain bearing for a short time, even without lubricant, without failing.</p>
<p>The liquidus temperature is approx. 400 °C (melting temperature). It is recommended to cast the alloy at approx. 450-520 °C. It has good casting properties in chill molds, silicone rubber and sand. When casting in silicone rubber molds, rather generous cross-sections and a casting temperature not much higher than 450 °C should be used.   </p>
<p>A lead-free alternative to WM80 with similar properties is <a href="https://zinn-giesserei-goehler.com/en/produkt/bearing-metal-white-metal-wm89-sn89sb7-5cu3-5/">WM89</a>.</p>
