Wash for casting ladles and molds with simple geometry.

Base: Water
Form: Inhomogeneously dispersed in water
Application temperature: approx. 50-80°C
Maximum operating temperatures: approx. 1200°C

Our water-based ladle wash is available in 500g or 1kg bottles; on request, we also offer 5kg buckets. The wash should not be exposed to frost, as the containers may burst otherwise.

This wash is crucial for protecting your casting ladle from corrosive attacks by the melt. Even with low-melting point metals, it is advisable to coat the casting ladle. The use of protective washes is essential to prevent severe corrosion and a shortened lifespan of the casting ladles. Without a protective wash, atoms from the melt diffuse into the casting ladle and vice versa; this effect is undesirable.

Application:

Over time, the mixture of wash and water can separate, and the wash settles at the bottom. By stirring or shaking, you ensure that a homogeneous mixture is formed again.

Apply this mixture to the preheated casting ladle or mold (ideally at 50-80°C). The water evaporates, and the wash adheres. All areas that come into contact with the melt should be coated. Apply the wash evenly and thoroughly, but not too thickly. A brush, such as our mold-making brush, is excellent for application. Alternatively, dipping the ladle into a wash bath or spraying it on is possible.

If dark, water-containing spots are still visible after application, heat the ladle to ensure that all water evaporates before immersing it in the melt. Otherwise, there is a “risk of explosion” due to rapid steam formation.

After casting, all metal residues should be removed from the ladle. Using the residual heat, the casting ladle can then be coated again – provided that the residual heat is sufficient to evaporate all water.

The same guidelines also apply to molds or forms with simple geometry. If you want to achieve very thin layer thicknesses, further dilution with water may be useful.

The product is freely available and harmless in itself.
Nevertheless, the following safety markings must be observed:
H314: Causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage
H318: Causes serious eye damage.

Note: The product does not cause severe skin burns; the classification primarily applies to potential damage to the eye mucous membranes upon intense contact.

We will send you a safety data sheet for this item upon request.
