The SnSb5 soft solder is an alternative to solders that also solidify in a pasty state, such as SnCu3 and SnAg5. It has higher strength and is also lead-free and RoHS compliant, like the SnCu3 and SnAg5 solders. For example, it can also be used in plumbing.

Antimony is a brittle metal and is well suited for alloying with tin and lead. As a secondary element in alloys, it makes them harder.
