These silicon fragments are a byproduct of silicon component production. Silicon with 3N purity is very well suited for alloying with aluminum.
Together with our pure aluminum ingots and granules, you can, e.g., produce the common aluminum casting alloy AlSi12. This contains 88% aluminum and 12% silicon. It features excellent castability. We also carry a similar aluminum casting alloy in a convenient form.

For decorative purposes, we recommend the 6N silicon fragments. These are slightly darker and sharper-edged. Even if you require high purity for further processing, the use of 6N silicon is recommended.
Please also note that small amounts of SiO2 (quartz glass) may adhere to the 3N silicon. However, this is not a problem during alloying.
